Monster Match was a First Party app developed with a focus on delivering short play sessions that fed long-term mechanisms for user retention. We referenced several apps that accomplished this and established two game play types we believed would be both innovative and achieve our goal; the puzzle mechanic and collection building.
Two benchmark models were used to influence both the art direction and game design. “Pokemon”, a popular animated show with several game franchises as well as “Bedazzled” and similar puzzle games. On this project I had the opportunity to be a jack of all trades, assisting with asset creation, special effects, animated prototypes and some of the minor design mechanics.
